The award will cover two conferences to be hosted in Osaka and Scotland.
The project objective will have four sets of overlapping objectives. First, it will seek to promote comparative learning between Japan and the UK on the most efficient and effective ways to provide public services, as well as a broader understanding of the two countries more generally.
Second, it will seek specifically to generate understanding, and ongoing networks between academics and researchers in the two countries that can underpin the future design of effective public services.
Third, it will seek to explore how these new insights might drive forward effective public service reform in Japan and the UK. Finally, it will seek to influence the wider academic and practice community through its dissemination and impact strategies.
The award will cover two conferences to be hosted by Kwansei Gakuin University and the University of Edinburgh Business School.
