An Audience with...Leeann Dempster, Chief Executive of Hibernian Football Club
Tuesday 21 November, 17:15–18:30 (refreshments available from 16:45)
Leeann Dempster began her career working for an advertising agency. She then became Chief Executive of Motherwell FC in 2009, before moving in 2014 to become Chief Executive of Hibernian FC. Since then she has faced significant challenges: overseeing the birth of Hibernian as a top-flight football club and establishing it on a sustainable financial basis, keeping it embedded within its local community and support base, dealing with the expectations of an invariably passionate and demanding fan-base – and of course doing so as a woman working in one of the most male-dominated sectors of society. Come and hear her perspective on these challenges and her views on the opportunities and difficulties for football as part of contemporary Scottish economy and society.
An Audience with...Scott Black, Managing Director of FWB Park Brown
Wednesday 29 November, 17:15–18:30 (refreshments available from 16:45)
Scott Black has worked in the recruitment industry for 30 years and has participated in two management buyouts, a successful startup and also several acquisitions and disposals. He co-founded FWB in 1993. This was renamed FWB Park Brown four years ago, following the acquisition of Park Brown International Ltd. It is the only Executive Search firm in the UK to be rated in the top 30 UK search firms with its HQ in Scotland.
Scott recently led the sale of some of the equity of FWB Park Brown to its senior management team as part of a planned succession strategy and continues to manage the business. Scott is the current President of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, a Trustee of the Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) and also of Newlands Junior College – giving him a unique perspective on the role of the service sector in Scottish economy and society.
