The courses have been developed for students studying for a postgraduate qualification in a subject area other than Business, but who currently work in the service sector and therefore require a working knowledge on how to design, deliver, and manage services.
The first ten-credit course, ‘Service Excellence and Design’, will introduce the key concepts of service management, including what constitutes ‘value’, the processes of value creation, the complex system of actors who contribute to that process and how services might be designed to support value creation. It will draw upon service management theory and research to provide students with the teaching and learning they require to operate successfully in service environments.
‘Service Management and Practice’ will focus on the delivery and management of services to support value creation. During the course, students will explore the role of service management disciplines in supporting the value creation process (such as leadership, strategy, culture, and marketing) and will consider interorganisational relationship management within complex service systems.
