Dr Adina Dudau from the University of Glasgow was the external examiner and Professor Kenneth Amaeshi from the University of Edinburgh Business School was the internal examiner.
Tie explored public and non-profit carbon reduction programmes through the lens of value creation. Drawing upon a 18-month fieldwork in the City of Edinburgh, his thesis focused on three elements:
- It explored what constitutes public (for society) and private (for the individual) value in the context of carbon reduction programmes.
- It examined the impact of time on value creation — the effort of carbon reduction programmes is in the present, but the value creation promised is in the future. Consequently, it analysed the balance between value creation in the present and for the future.
- It evaluated the tension between public and private value creation in public projects.
Tie Cui was supervised by CenSE Director, Professor Stephen Osborne. The Associate Supervisor was Dr Kathi Kaesehage. His PhD was fully funded by a CenSE doctoral scholarship.
Congratulation to Dr Tie Cui!
