The European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) conference is one of the leading conferences in the area of management and organisation studies. Bringing together around 2,000 scholars from around the world and from various leading institutions, the conference provides a great platform for junior scholars to be seen and heard. Mehdi’s previous experiences with EGOS conferences have been fruitful as two of his papers presented at EGOS have already been accepted and published in top tier journals. The networking benefit would provide additional value to young scholars to find the right community, audience and friends alongside the path of their academic career.

The paper, which will be presented in Sub-theme 46: The Long Shadow of Business Models: Inertia and Improvisation, explores the business model change of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) through the process of configuring practices at the individual, processual and structural levels of the organisation that reconstitute the bank’s organisational capabilities in response to the financial crisis of 2008. The paper contributes to recent calls for longitudinal studies on business model modification and change necessary for responding to exogenous shocks, a recurrent feature of the modern business environment.
