Speakers from prestigious institutions such as the Financial Conduct Authority and Google joined this celebration of the relationship between financial practitioners and the MSc Banking and Risk.

More than 100 delegates (professionals from the financial services industry and postgraduate students) attended the MSc Banking and Risk Conference “Welcome to the Future: How technology will change (even more) the financial sector” at the University of Edinburgh Business School on 24 February 2017.

The presentations focused on several perspectives on trends in the applications of technology in the financial sector, such as the UK regulatory environment, in light of technological innovations, merger and acquisitions involving technological firms, new financial products based on the use of new technologies, and the advent of Fintech.

The speakers came from prestigious institutions, such as: the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), London; Standard & Poor’s Global Market Intelligence, New York; The M&A Advisor, New York; and Google, London.

The event celebrated the engagement between financial practitioners and the MSc Banking and Risk and promoted further collaborations, such as dissertation projects, case studies, competitions and consultancy projects. Novel ideas were used to encourage the network between delegates from financial institutions and students. An example of these ideas was a quiz about the MSc Banking and Risk answered by practitioners with the help of students. Prizes were distributed to external participants.
