Dr Fernando Moreira's study on the effect of American government capital injections in US banks has been published.
Dr Moreira's paper, 'The Impact of Government Assistance on Banks' Efficiency', co-authored with Md. Jahir Uddin Palas from the University of Dhaka, has been accepted for publication in the International Journal of Finance and Economics.
In this study, the authors reveal that the capital injections in US banks promoted by the American government during the Global Financial Crisis 2008–09 led to a reduction in the efficiency of the recipient banks.
Dr Fernando Moreira is Senior Lecturer in Banking and Risk Management at the University of Edinburgh Business School.
